Led by Mark Golter, a two-time World Champion in Downhill Skateboarding, our ministry aims to reach skateboarders and youth with the message of hope found in Jesus Christ. We actively engage with the skate culture, promoting discipleship and faith while using skateboarding as a tool for outreach.
From World Champion to Kingdom Mission
Before Sanctified Skaters became a ministry, its roots were established decades earlier on the hills of Southern California. In the mid-1970s, Mark Golter began riding skateboards long before downhill skateboarding captured global attention. In 1980, while living in Laguna Beach, he crossed paths with downhill pioneer Roger Hickey, who was riding a local hill near his home. That pivotal moment changed the trajectory of his life forever.
What began as fascination quickly transformed into a lifelong passion. For decades, Mark devoted himself to mastering the challenging discipline of downhill skateboarding. Through years of sacrifice, injury, relentless training, and international competition, he ascended to the summit of the sport.
Mark clinched the 2002 and 2003 Extreme Downhill International World Championships, won the NBC Sports Gravity Games Gold Medal, Silver Medal and Bronze Medals, secured an ESPN X-Games qualifier and proudly stood on podiums throughout the IGSA World Cup circuit while consitantly winning events against the fastest riders in the world.
Acheving success at the highest level came at a significant cost. With the collapse of EDI, a major downhill sanctioning organization, sponsorship opportunities vanished, and the sport faced a severe downturn. During this challenging period, Mark suffered his fifth concussion in a devastating 60 mph crash that ultimately forced him into retirement. What seemed like the end of his platform became the beginning of God's greater purpose.
Mark's identity was never intended to be anchored in trophies or rankings. God redirected his focus toward marriage, family, and discipleship. He married Kelly, and together they raised their two sons, Skyler and Koa, in Orange County, California. For nearly two decades, skateboarding remained largely behind him. Then, God called him back.
Not for fame.
Not for competition.
But for ministry.
This divine calling was reignited through his family. His son Skyler Golter became a phonom and accomplished Downhill Skateboarder, winning his first event at age seven, then turning heads as a semi pro Street Skater. He developed a deep passion for youth ministry currently serving at Zion Church in San Clemente and teaching Skateboarding at Ryan Skeckler's private Skatepark. Marks wife Kelly began dicipleing other weman and became interested in ministering to females within skate culture. Together, the Golter family recognized an urgent need for authentic Gospel outreach within the skateboard community — a culture often overlooked, underserved, and spiritually disconnected.
From that vision, Sanctified Skaters was born based on one pinacle Bible Verse explaining the heart of the Gospel Message in a nutshell...
“…we have been SANCTIFIED through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.”
Sanctified Skaters exists to glorify Jesus Christ by reaching skateboarders, youth, and counter-culture communities with the Gospel. The ministry uses skateboarding not merely as a sport, but as a bridge for building relationships, discipleship, mentorship, evangelism, and restoration.
At skateparks across Southern California and beyond, Mark now shares Scripture on concrete instead of competing for medals on asphalt. The mission is straightforward: meet people where they are and bring the truth of Jesus Christ directly into their world.
Through weekly Bible studies, skatepark outreach, youth mentorship, homeless ministry, adaptive skateboarding, pro-model skateboard evangelism, and board giveaways stamped with Hebrews 10:10, Sanctified Skaters is building relationships that open hearts to the Gospel.
The ministry believes that revival does not always begin behind church walls. Sometimes, it starts while sitting on a curb at a skatepark.
Sanctified Skaters embraces a vision far larger than one family or one local ministry. God placed a burden on Mark’s heart to start in America — the birthplace of skateboarding — while preparing for future outreach across the nations. The ministry’s symbolic “World Flag” embodies that calling: America as the sending nation, carrying the nations of the world within its stripes as a reminder of the Great Commission.
The mission begins locally, but the vision is global. Every skateboard deck given away. Every Bible study at the park. Every homeless outreach. Every conversation with a struggling teenager. Every prayer spoken over a skater. It all serves one eternal purpose: pointing people to Jesus Christ.

Why Ongoing Support Matters:
Sanctified Skaters relies entirely on faithful supporters who believe the Gospel belongs everywhere — including skateparks, streets, and communities often overlooked by traditional ministry models.

Monthly Partners Enable:
-Weekly skatepark Bible studies and outreach
-Gospel-centered skateboard giveaways
-Adaptive skateboarding programs

This ministry is not funded by corporations or entertainment sponsors. It is sustained by believers who understand that investing month after month in eternal impact is invaluable. Boards eventually break, trophies fade but transformed lives through Jesus Christ last forever.
